Blog Post #4

The sermon, "Sinners in the Hand of God",  exhibited that the whole world was born sinners until they accepted Christ as their lord and savior. If you committed sins or did not comply with what the bible stated, you would be sent to hell and burned up by the flames. They believed that everybody was already predestined by Gods will. If when you were born you knew you were going to hell, there was nothing you could do to change that. In today's value system I can see some similarities. People believe if you live by what the bible says you are going to heaven, and if you cannot live by the bible you will most likely go to hell. I think the proper name for these people are Mormons. The differences I see now are that the tone of speech is a lot different when a sermon or message is being taught. The harsh tone back then was to scare people into doing what was right. If I was to deliver a similar speech, I would have made it so I could check the audiences position with questions that would have them thinking about what was being said. I also would have most likely used a more gracious tone of speech.
