The younger adult and child varied greatly. To start off the chapter we see how the kid on the yacht was humble. He did not want to become like his parents and be farmers and live a little seldom life. The young boy had big hopes and dreams and something to live and strive for. We find out how Gatsby lied about his entire past which shows how he is a low and shallow person. On page 98, we are told his parents "were shiftless and unsuccessful farm people" (98). As a young kid on a yacht, it would be very hard to look as farming being a fun future. So instead Gatsby makes dreams and aspiration and stuff to look forward to that will be extravagant unlike his parents farming life. He even goes on to say "he didn't really consider them as parents" (98). The older Gatsby has accomplished anything any man could dream of and is sitting on stacks on stacks of cash. He has nothing to dream of and look forward to, so he become somewhat of a introvert.  Gatsby at a younger age had imagined his life out and about going places and making memories, but instead he is now found stuck at his house dreaming about one girl. Gatsby entire past he told us about was all a made up dream. He is now stuck in it and get get out to find what he truly wants.

The reunion of Daisy and Gatsby, a rather sordid relationship, signals simultaneously the beginning and the end of Gatsby’s dream and of his success. This statement is very true. Gatsby used to be in love with Daisy, before he had to go off to war. When the war was over, for some unknown reason to the readers, Gatsby could not return to Daisy. All this time away from Daisy Gatsby has been dying to get back together with her. He bought his house across the bay from Daisy on purpose. The reunion of Daisy and Gatsby signaled the beginning of Gatsby's dream, which is to live happily ever after with his love, Daisy. Ever since Gatsby has left he has dreamed of getting back with Daisy. As Gatsby takes Nick to lunch one day he tell Nick "I am going to ask a big request of you today" (67). This quote shows how Gatsby considerers Nick asking Daisy over to his house for tea as a "big deal". In reality it is not a big deal at all for Nick since him and Daisy are cousins. Him meeting up and being reunited with Daisy signals the start to a great future between the two of them. On the flip side, these two being reunited shows the end of one of Gatsby's dreams. It ends the long days Gatsby sat around waiting, and thinking and throwing parties hoping Daisy would just show up. Now that she has come back, his bad dream of him being alone is abolished. Now that Gatsby has been reunited he will be able to have greater success. He now has something to live for.

The first character I will talk about is Nick Carraway. He is a younger man who traveled to new York and started to learn the bond business his first summer in New York. Nick shows a strong virtue. Nicks diligence should take him a long way in this novel. He is quiet and modest and will not spread rumors as we have seen so far. People like to talk to nick since he has good integrity.
The next character is Daisy. So far in the book daisy has been looked at as a dumb (possibly acting like this on purpose) women. She is never making much sense and annoying other. I could connect her to the sin Slothfulness. She is married to her husband, Tom, for his money, which makes me think she does not want to work much. Honestly it is hard to blame her since her husband is described as "hard to realize that a man in my own generation was wealthy enough to do that"(6). By saying "do that" they were referring to bringing down a string of polo ponies from lake forest to his new home in the east egg.
Tom is the final character. Tom has both Greed and Pride. because of where he has been in his life and what he has accomplished, such as being "the most powerful end to have ever played football at New Haven" (6). With money usually comes greed and pride, and I think that the excessive amount of money he has accumulated has led to these sins.

Throughout the book we have seen the use of many colors. The author is incorporating different colors into his text to stand for much bigger things. When Nick arrives home after his dinner at Toms house, he looks out and see's what we can assume is The Great Gatsby himself standing on the end of a pier staring off into the distance at a flashing green light. Into the second chapter, around the beginning we are told about the valley of ashes which is located around the middle of the West Egg and New York. On page 27 there is a brief description of the Valley of Ashes: "where ashes grow like wheat into ridges and hills and grotesque gardens, where ashes take the forms of houses and chimneys and rising smoke and finally, with a transcendent effort, of men who move dimly and already crumbling through the powdery air" (27). This Valley is described with words such as smoke, dim, and ashes. All of these words resemble the color gray. I think the authors used the green light in the two eggs as a bright color, possibly representing wealth and money. Back then, brighter colors cost much more. In the valley, where people have less money, all the stuff is dull and gray. The colors in these 2 chapters show the difference between the residents in the two areas.

I do  believe Billy is supposed to be a Christ figure. The only thing that makes me think otherwise is before the war Billy was a weakling and Billy prefers sinking over swimming. The connections I can make it to Billy being a Christ figure is that he becomes unstuck in time an can move to and from different events in his life. Both Billy and Christ wanted to warn people about something coming. Christ wanted to spread news about God and Billy wants to spread news about Tralfamadorians. The other connection would be that Billy is re-birthed after he time travels just like Christ rebirth. This shows Billy has some control in the fourth dimension. Also Billy is not afraid of death. Well it's either that or he does not care. Every time somebody dies we see him say "so it goes". Throughout the book we see the mention Adam and Eve. When we hear references about Adam and Eve we think about the beginning of time. I think enemies are mentioned over and over because they connected to Billy in some way. Billy in constantly time travelings to random points in his life. I think they make the reference to Adam and Eve because they had unlimited access to power until they ate the apple. So maybe they could have time traveled and been in the 4th dimension just like Billy is. Billy also believes that death is not the final part of life just like Jesus believed in the afterlife.

Blog Post 19: Its a Circle, not a Square

It has been said that Slaughterhouse-Five is written in a circular pattern. I do not entirely agree with this statement. A Circular pattern usually refers to a story where the ending is in the same place as the start of the novel was. One area that makes me believe slaughterhouse five is writing in circular pattern is shown when Billy is "unstuck" in time. While reading the book I thought it would be centered around the bombing at Dresden, but so far Billy Pilgrim and his life after the war is what has been mainly talked about. Personally, I do not find any structure in the novel. Kurt Vonnegut seems to not care what order of events happen in. In fact it took him 23 years to write this novel. The first chapter in this book was written after the after the rest of the novel is finished. I don't see how he could have any structure when writing from the end to the start. From what we have read, we keep jumping to different parts of the circle randomly. There are many plots in the book that live on their own and have nothing to do with the bombing at Dresden. Sometimes the plot is very hard to follow due to the fact that he keeps time traveling. Every time he time travels a completely changes the plot the only part about the time traveling that makes me Think that the book has a circular pattern is that every time he time travels he comes back to his original starting spot where he was left off.

While reading chapter 4, we see Billy waiting for the flying saucer's arrival. While he is waiting he starts to watch a movie that is about American bombers in the second world war and some of the fearless men in it. The weird part about this chapter is that he watches the movie not only forwards but backwards. There is a reason for this. The way he watches the movie backwards correlates to his life in a way. Maybe he is seeing his life in reverse and what could have been different. The way he goes backwards makes me think its making him feel the affect the war had on him more. He keeps going into his past. This should show his life in order like the movie about the German city being in flames, and then going to what happened cause this to occur. Since Billy watched the movie in reverse it showed that he does not care about the order things are in, and in fact wishes he could change them as we see at the end of the chapter. Billy must have been thinking while the film was showing that no matter what way the events come out in, they all will result in the same outcome. His thought add to the role of this film in the book because they give it meaning. If we did not see billy looking into his past and life in reverse, then the movie being in reverse would almost be pointless to the novel.

Why did he choose to make the first chapter a chapter in the book instead of a preface? A preface is a background to the book. It is something to remember as you read the book.  The reason Vonnegut choose to make the first chapter of Slaughterhouse-Five a chapter instead of a preface to the novel is because the novel is meant to be tied into his life. A preface doesn't not connect to the book in that manner. A preface is something you keep in your mind that would correlate to a scenario or event, but Vonnegut was actually in the war himself. He is using this book to show people what he experienced and went through himself. A weird part of the chapter is when Vonnegut decides putting forth the time and effort to write and publish this is not worth it. He says writing a book is hard as preventing a war. Vonnegut also finds out he has is bad with time and it is distorted to him. Chapter one is a way for Vonnegut to have a flashback to what he has been through. We are also introduced to a character named O'hare that he wants to keep having conversation with.

Blog Post 15

AT the start and end of this novel Flying is introduced and used. Throughout the novel we see many men trying to fly away from there problems, Robert Smith being the first one. He was not liked by the community because due to his job, he had to take everybody money. Nobody likes a insurance agent. This puts Robert in a very bad spot causing him to want to run from his lack of security and problems. When Robert jumped from the building he is giving up all his responsibility's. In the book i look at is as a way men give up on life and release all there problems to other people. This is a major theme repeated frequently in the book. To me this is a very selfish way for people to get rid of problems because it affects much more then themselves. It affects there family, friends, and people that witness the event. Later in the novel we see Solomon try to fly away leaving his children and wife. This is weird tho because Milkman viewed him as a hero. While we don't see any women in the book try to fly away form there problems, I think the author uses men to stand for everyone. I have mixed thoughts on what Toni's main point she is trying to put across to her readers is, but the one point I do understand was well put by using the "flying" method.

Blog Post 14: The Mighty 7 ft. Gutair

I feel as if Milkman and Guitar have some very relaxed encounters in this chapter giving there interactions a very laid back feeling. Milkman was never scared even though he knows Guitar wants to kill him. Guitar cant trust milkman and what he wants to do. When Milkman says he was helping a man lift his crate at the train station Guitar strongly believes hes lying considering Milkman has never helped anybody but himself before. In the past he never wanted to help anyone with anything. Guitars view on the world is very distrusting already. I believe he is overreacting saying its a cause of murder. Through the books we see Guitar grew up poor with little help. Saying this the Seven Days has given him a view of death that most people don't have. He views this as a way to create balance in the world, and an ultimate way to right the immoral things that may happen on and in Earth. Being able to decide who lives and dies is a very cocky thing to think. This is just a way for Guitar to feel better for all the things that happened to him in his life, yet I don't think this justifies his thoughts. I think it is a reason, but not an excuse for his behavior. His ignorance is dangerous, and it makes him no better than the sinners he believes to be punishing. Guitars world is full of injustice to him.

Blog Post 13: Discover yourself

The first thing we notice is all the problems we run into with Milkman while hes hunting. Hes with a group of older, stronger, faster, more experienced men. AT first Milkman comes out trying to impress the other guys, until he notices he is hunting in a dark area with a pack of dogs. Milkman must find a solid way to blend into the darkness and move smoothly like Calvin so he can ensure he will live he thinks. One of his harder times is when the dogs begin following a bobcat and Calvin takes off running after the pack. At one point Milkman gives it all he has to catch up and keep up with Calvin as they move uphill. At some point while he is trailing, Milkman notices this is his breaking point. Surprisingly, instead this is the turning point for Milkman in the chapter that gives him confidence, strength, and a desire to keep up, yet Guitar attempts to strangle him from behind with wire, and Milkman manages to get free just as the hounds appear and chase off Guitar. In this chapter Milkman does some searching to find out who he really is. Milkaman feels judged by the town folk due to there own opinions. It is not until later in the chapter, when Milkman has gone on this great hunt and beaten Guitar that he begins to actually calm down. Instead of vieweing everything through aggressive lens, he now looks at stuff openly. A important part of the hunt helped with this, the moment when he came to the realization that the hounds were actually communicating with their owners. Instead of the hounds just making random sounds and stuff, he notices that they are actually sending messages to there owner. Milkman begins to actually look at the situation through a fresh perspective, and in turn actually earns the respect of the hunters. At the ending, milkman is pointed to a place run by a pretty girl that might take his mind off other stuff by the hunters.

Blog Post 11: First Corninthians into...Second?

During chapter 9 we see Corinthians is an middle aged women. Corinthians is mature, educated, and well experienced/traveled. Even with all these traits she never became a successful person. Even thought she worked hard to marry well and to get a good, respected job, she didn't succeed in any of it. Corinthians is looked at as the most educated sister in the family and Milkman looks up to her for this reason. After all of this, she became a maid for a well-known poet. Corinthians and her mother lied about her job to others. Even though Corinthians is a maid, she never dressed like it. Her uniform for work was never worn outside her job, and she wore high heels when going out in public. Throughout her life she has problems and struggles because she is always trying to live up to others expectations for herself, rather then her own. Since she did not meet her friends and family's expectations, she is ashamed of herself and it changes her character. Towards the end of this chapter Ruth struggles to decide if she will keep living with her man, who is not approved of by society, or go be succesful on her own. In the end, she decides to stay with Porter, which I think is a good choice because she kept saying he was someone who her father would keep her away from. Therefore, she wanted to keep him secret. Personally, I think that she makes her statement clear that shes done caring and trying when she enters her own home and completely ignores what Milkman and Macon are discussing.. Why should she keep acting and trying to be good as her family wanted if she could never meet those expectations.

Blog Post 10: Chaptahhhhh 5

Discuss Pilate's association with magic in the chapter. Cite all the magical aids she uses to achieve her ends. Is her magic always benevolent magic?

Pilate uses "magic" for a few reasons in this chapter. The first example is the voodoo doll. “Pilate put a small doll on Macon’s chair in this office.  A male doll with a small painted chicken bone stuck between its legs and a round red circle painted on its belly” (Morrison 132). In this quote, Pilate is trying to use the magical aid of the voodoo doll to prevent Macon Junior form aborting Ruth's baby.
The second time the association with magic is brought up is because of Pilates lack of a naval. The text says "Child, wheres your naval. It's for people who were born natural" (Morrison 143). Pilate always keeps her bellied covered when she goes out looking for a job so shes not turned away due to her strange deformity. But then she found a job and got married to man. She carries around a green sack later in the chapter that symbolizes the devil and/or magic. Pilate not having a naval symbolizes her being helped by the devil and not needing affirmation. The voodoo doll Pilate used is a sign of the devil also. This doll prevented Ruth from killing her baby, therefore doing something beneficial. Her magic isnt always bad. Pilates magic is what helped Milkman live.

Blog Post 9: Little Limpy

Milkman strives towards being the opposite of his dad throughout the book. He does not want to be compared to or looked at like his father Macon Dead. Milkman at one point hits his father just showing how much he despises him. As Milkman grows up, one of his legs does not grow at the same pace as his other. This throws off his balance on each side causing him to limp down to the side with the shorter leg. This is where Milkman's limp came from. Milkman limp is a good symbol of himself and his name. Milkman has not been able to take pride in his name due to his upbringing. The limp he has causes him to feel insecure about himself, and whens hes asked about it he has a harsh comment on page 62. Once milkman learned that his limp made him different from his father, he learned to make better of it. Throughout chapter 3 Toni talks about 10 years of his life. He slowly begins to breakup Guitars and his relationship. They were raised differently, and now that affect is taking place. Later in the chapter, Ruth is telling a story of what happened at the wedding and Macon Dead starts being rude and calling her stupid. Macon got irritated and slapped Ruth in the face, so Milkman got up and punched Macon. Now that Macon is all worked up and angry, he tells them about his relationship with Ruth. This chapter is a roller coaster ride.

Blog Post 8

From what I noticed while reading through the first chapter, everybody has equally important names. Whenever a character was introduced or talked about, both the first and last names were usually given. I think Toni wanted to give as little details about the physical appearance as possible, letting the name make each character unique. When Toni spoke about all the members of the dead family, she used both the first and last names, and even the nickname and birth name of the Milkman. Toni wanted to show the importance of names, therefore she gave all the characters equally important names.

In chapter one so far, it seems as if Males are more worthy then women. The main example I saw of gender importance was when Pilate was more interest in his first nephew then he was in his own daughter. If you are more concerned in your nephew then you are in your own daughter, then there is a clear reason. In this case it is gender importance. Due to the time in which this book was written, so far it makes sense that men were looked at more then women. The book was written in the 1940's.

In this chapter the other thing that stood out was family legacy. Just like Parris liked his good reputation in the town, family legacy is treated the same way. Mr. Macon talks about how his sister dresses poorly and says he wont allow it so it wont affect his name. The chapter showed how they took there family's legacy seriously.

Crucible Portfolio: Act 4

Literary term
Comic Relief- A humorous/joking part or scene in a serious literary work or drama, especially a tragedy, intended to relieve the dramatic tension or heighten the emotional impact by means of contrast.
"A bellowing cow is heard, and Tituba leaps up and calls to the widow: Aye, sir! That's him Sarah!" (Miller 1320)
Tituba hears a cow outside the prison while being talked to by Herrick. Noticing Herrick had been drinking a little and was a little tipsy, along with Sarah Good, she decides to capitalize on the moment. In the previous scene of the play it was very tragic and there were many deaths in the town. After having the crowd/reader in a down mood the other wants to lighten it up a little and add some comedy to shift the focus. This Literary term gives the play another side. Instead of always being serious and tragic, now the author incorporates a part that isn't negative/depressing.

Quotation Elation
"Elizabeth-quietly: Let me talk to him. Excellency.
Parris- with hope: You'll strive with him? She hesitates
Danforth- Will you plead for his confession or will you not?
Elizabeth-I promise nothing. let me speak with him."
These quotes are important to the text because it makes the audience predict what will happen next. They want to know what John and Elizabeth will decide. Will they lie and confess for something they haven't done to save they're lives? Or will they stick to the truth and keep they're high risk of being hung. When Danforth and Hale come to the jail asking Elizabeth to convince her husband to 'confess', so the Court wont hang them, it makes everyone shocked about whats happening. Depending on what Elizabeth and John decide, the town will change greatly. The reason Danforth and Hale came to propose this is because the whole town had turned on the court, not wanting them to hang anybody else or see any more deaths.

Characters
Elizabeth- Elizabeth is John Proctors wife. In this act she is beat up and unhealthy due to being tied up and thrown in jail waiting for there sentence. Throughout the play Elizabeth has been know to be a honest and upright woman. She is also loyal to her husband.
Purpose- Her purpose in this Act was to convince John Proctor to confess to Witchcraft. In return theyre lives could be saved.
Outcome- Proctor signs the confession, but then backs out of it because he does not feel just doing so and cant overcome his conscience. Elizabeth supported him in his decision, instead of trying to persuade him otherwise.

Crucible Portfolio Part 2: Act 2

Literary Term
Internal Conflict- A problem or struggle within the mind of the character, causes suspense and drama for the audience.

"And I say, “'You lie, Devil, you lie!”' And then he come one stormy night to me, and he say, “'Look!
I have white people belong to me.”' And I look, and there was Goody Good" (Miller, 51)
In this scene, Miller uses Internal conflict to show what Tituba is thinking and bring suspense. While yes, she is saying this out loud to other characters, it is a ongoing conflict in her head on whether she should tell the truth about not being a witch, or make up a lie like this to save her life. If she tells what she was really doing, the society will think she is lying and hang her. This internal conflict Tituba has will be a a big decision for her on whether she lives or dies. In this text she is claiming the Devil told her this information when really she has never communicated with him.

Quotation Elation

"It is her dearest hope, I know it. There be a thousand names; why does she call mine? There be a certain danger in calling such a name—I am no Goody Good that sleeps in ditches, nor Osburn, drunk and half-witted. She’d dare not call out such a farmer’s wife but there be monstrous profit in it. She thinks to take my place, John" (Miller 1274)

This quote has a significant meaning to this Act.  Abigail wants to take Elizabeth's place as Proctors go to girl. So to get rid of Elizabeth, when Abigail was confessing what she saw she throws Elizabeth under the bus claiming she does witchcraft. Since during these times, if you were accused of witchcraft, you don't have much defense, Abigail made a smart move on her part. Now it leaves you wondering whether Proctor will defend Elizabeth, or instead maybe have a new lover. It will be interesting to see if Proctor changes his mind or holds his ground.

Characters

 Elizabeth Proctor
She is John Proctors wife. Since the begging of the play we see she is a loyal and trustful wife always trying to think the best. As this act goes on she begins to lose trust in Proctor due to the things she notices going on between him and Abigail. Elizabeth is always honest and has a good outlook on stuff, until somebody starts to annoy her constantly like Abigail.

Purpose: Elizabeth helps create drama between Proctor and Abigail. This brings suspense into the play to test John Proctors character. If Elizabeth wasn't present then it really would matter what Proctor did, and he would stick to Abigail without any problems. Now that she is being accused of witchcraft we will see what happens.
Outcome: Proctor will need to choose who to side with and how he will approach it. He will go on many trials along with his wife to see if she had actually been doing witchcraft!

Crucible Portfolio Entry 1: Act 1

IA)Conflict- A problem or resistance the protagonist of the story finds in trying to achieve his aims or dreams.
Hale: "You most certainty do, and you will free it from her now! When did you compact with the devil?" (1260)

IB) A conflict has come up when Tituba has been accused of compacting with the devil. After Betty fell ill, the town declared it due to a witch. When Abigail feels like she will get in trouble for dancing in the forest(a sin in her religion/community) she points her fingers at Tituba. This is a key point in the play. Tituba is threatened to be whipped to death if she doesn't confess. The other added this conflict so that the Priest, Parris, of the town has to decide whats right to do. This conflict give more action and excitement to the story. Now Hale decides to use Tituba to see the Devils plan instead of executing her.

II) Abigail: "Why, I am sure it is. There be no blush about my name."
Reverend Parris is talking to Abigail about her name in the village. Ever since Betty fell ill the whole town is stirring. Abigail, who live in the same house of Reverend Parris, the towns priest, was saw dancing in the forest which is against all the rules in the town, and considered a sin. Since she lives in the same house as the Reverend, his reputation could take a great hit(negative) from this if people were to find out Abigail had some involvement in this. Abigail is pleading that she hasn't done anything bad in the woods and that her name along with her family's will stay without blush(clean).

III) John Proctor- He is tall, attractive, fit, upright, and honest. John is important to the story because the whole town looks up to him. Everyone knows he is a good man and that they can trust him. I am not sure of his outcome since we have only finished act 1, but his outcome looks as if he will be the towns hero. At the end of act 1, John has been to the town to check out the accusations of people being a witch, and run into Abigail where he got into a argument with her.

Blog post 7: Values

It is better to die for what you believe in rather than to lie to save your life. This is a question that questions every persons own values differently. My answer to the question is that its better to lie to save your life then die for what you believe in. You can always ask for forgiveness or say something and not mean it. That's completely understandable. If for example Muslims are terrorizing a Christan with his life telling him to say what "the actual truth is", then saying Islamic faith is the right one is what I would do. I am going to say something that people wanna hear to save my own life. Dying and losing your one and only life if not worth it. You can always say one thing and be completely against it just to satisfy somebody else ears. Losing your life over something you believe in is not really worth it. You can always make it seem like you don't believe in something while you really do believe it to save your life.

Blog 5: Topic for Junior exit

  1. Should college athletes get paid.
  2. College athletes should be paid.
  3. I picked this because I love to play sports and don't want to have to pay to go to college and play sports. Also, its a good subject with many different responses form people.
  4. I can use the internet to find information on the subject. I can talk to friends of mine that are college athletes and get their opinion on it. I could also go to a library and find out who decided and why that college athletes shouldn't get paid and see why they choose that.
  5.
  • Being a college athlete is a full time job
  • The school is paid for from student athletes work on the field/court
  • People pay to watch the students performance, so the students should be paid for it.

Blog Post #4

The sermon, "Sinners in the Hand of God",  exhibited that the whole world was born sinners until they accepted Christ as their lord and savior. If you committed sins or did not comply with what the bible stated, you would be sent to hell and burned up by the flames. They believed that everybody was already predestined by Gods will. If when you were born you knew you were going to hell, there was nothing you could do to change that. In today's value system I can see some similarities. People believe if you live by what the bible says you are going to heaven, and if you cannot live by the bible you will most likely go to hell. I think the proper name for these people are Mormons. The differences I see now are that the tone of speech is a lot different when a sermon or message is being taught. The harsh tone back then was to scare people into doing what was right. If I was to deliver a similar speech, I would have made it so I could check the audiences position with questions that would have them thinking about what was being said. I also would have most likely used a more gracious tone of speech.

Blog Post 3: The Rhetorical Situation

A essay I have read was written to me from a professional football player, Tony George. He was a athlete with type 1 diabetes just like myself. it had a great influence on me. In the essay he pointed out little things and the big things that I would need to be a successful athlete with Type 1. He said for all its not possible but with the right effort and being responsible I could make it to the big leagues just like any other athlete. it has taught me how to be responsible and work hard even when nobody it paying attention to you or looking. The part that touched home for me was how he could connect with me and the challenges I am faced with over a normal person. Instead of telling me exactly what to do and how to do it, he offered me different ways of thinking. He let me decide which option is the best and how I go about it. He told me the things that would most likely happen with what I choose, but always said it was my choice even if they were so fortunate.
Out of the SOAPS, I think that Purpose is by far the most important. If you do not have a purpose for writing something, then why are you writing it in the first place. Even if there is a subject and a audience, if you don't have a purpose, then it would be almost pointless to write. When you go to write a essay or speech, you will always have a purpose for writing it. You may not have a audience or occasion, but you have a reason to write it.

Blog Post 2: Well Baked Man/Creation Stories

A creation story that I have heard about is of course, the most popular one, the Book of the Bible. Its a collection of many stories and books that all fit into one big one telling how the world, humans, and everything else in the Universe has been made and where it originated from. The story we read today in class, the well baked man, was actually a simple and good story. It showed how the Native Americans think. It shows what they portray the Coyote as, a sneaky sly being that is up to no good(98). The Coyote represents a tricky creature to the Native Americans. When the coyote tricks the god into taking the person out sooner then it should have been, and it ended up coming out lighter I liked that idea and could predict what would happen next. Its cool how it made a connection to how whites, blacks, and Hispanics came into being.
While in class we got to make our own Creation stories. I liked the activity and my group members. The only thing I didn't really like is having to use all the props. Also, I think if we had had a little more time then we could have presented it much better. Altogether it was a good activity and I had fun making up a story about how the rainbow came into creation(234). I don't think my group purposely put any archetypes into the skit, but I feel like we had Jester and hero. Next time we do it I want to learn about what exactly archetypes are so I can use them efficiently or in the right way.

Blog Post 1: Creative Therapy

When I was 2 I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. At this age of course, I couldn't comprehend the effect it would have on my entire life. The cause of me getting diabetes I am not sure of, only that this is a bad experience in my life. When I was old enough to understand the effect diabetes would have on my everyday routine it was hard to be happy with it.

From this bad experience a lot of things have been lost. Some are not being able to play the sports I want to efficiently, eating what I want when I want, feeling good all the time, and of course many more. Whenever I go somewhere I have to remember to have the necessities to take care of my blood-sugar with me which is also a hassle. Things Ive lost from the bad experience are time, money, and my health.

My initial reaction was probably around 10 or 11, when I realized the effect it would have one me. I thought down about having it, and that it would make me so much different from everyone else. I didn't like having something none of my friends have. My mother took care of my diabetes till I was old enough to do it myself. I hated having it but as the years go on I slowly learn how to still have fun and live with it.

As time has passed, I have learned to look back and see what i have done and whether it worked or not, and learned from that. I still feel having diabetes absolutely sucks, and nobody without diabetes would understand, but I have learned I don't have a choice whether I live with it or not. When I look back to when i got it I still ask why me.

Ive learned there's not always a easy path. Ive noticed my disease is not bad at all compared to others like cancer.  I learned to appreciate what I have, and that I cant have a good time unless I work. Its helped me become more responsible also.
